Morning Mist løpet Forest

Field Excursion to Finnskogen Thursday, 3 September
 

On Thursday, 3 September, we will depart Hamar by bus, pass through Elverum, and make three stops in Finnskogen.  On the return journey, there will be a guided visit to the Norwegian Forest Museum in Elverum, followed by the conference banquet at the hotel.

The excursion includes three locations, each featuring two talks or demonstrations:

Location 1

  • Nest predation and its role in small game communities
    (Dr. Torfinn Jahren)

  • Hunting management in Statskog (the Norwegian National Forest), from the perspectives of both management and local hunters
    (Dr. Jo Inge Breisjøberget / Jonas Hagen (TBC))

 

Location 2 (Capercaillie lek)​

  • Capercaillie leks and forestry (Dr. Jørund Rolstad)

  • Norwegian forestry practices (Dr. Endre Hofstad Hansen)

Location 3 (Hilltop with wind turbines)

  • Wind turbines and woodland grouse (Dr. Mikkel A. J. Kvasnes)

  • Black grouse and willow ptarmigan populations in the taiga
