Mountain roaming Jotunheimen
Would you like to journey with us into majestic Jotunheimen — the ancient realm where mountains breathe, and trolls are said to wander beneath the moonlit peaks?

On this trip, we will visit the Jotunheimen National Park, with the highest peaks in Scandinavia. We will hike through willows and rocks, and hopefully meet the ptarmigans and reindeers of the mountains. Accommodation will be in charming mountain lodges.

The mountain museum in Lom – 6000-year-old artifacts and Viking age artifacts that has melted out of the ice.
-
A guided tour into the glacier, along with reflections on climate change in the high mountains.
-
Breathtaking mountain views
-
Local foods and drinks
The trip will be suitable both for those who want a challenging mountain hike and for those who prefer a more relaxed trip.

The trip starts directly after the closing of the symposium 4th of September and we will return to Hamar Monday 7th of September.

Wilderness adventure in Lierne
We invite you to join us for an exclusive journey into the remote wilderness areas of Lierne in Central Norway. Lierne is home to all the five most common grouse species in Scandinavia – and some of the most extensive ongoing research on willow ptarmigan and their mountain ecosystem. Lierne consists of small villages surrounded by national parks, and the area hosts large carnivores, the Sami people’s semi-domestic reindeer, and the arctic fox.
The first day we will drive through the Norwegian landscape in minivans, accompanied by good colleagues and with local biologists guiding us, stopping in the small town of Levanger for the night. In Lierne, experienced grouse researchers and local managers will guide us into the field the second and third day, experiencing the realms of the ptarmigans – and hopefully spotting them. Lodging will be by the border of the national park, and we will be served a variety of exquisite local food and drinks during the excursion.
This field trip has a limited number of 21 participants. The trip starts directly after the closing of the symposium 4th of September, and we will end the excursion at Trondheim Airport Værnes before lunch Monday 7th of September.
There will be possibilities for following the minivans back to Hamar after the excursion for those interested, or you may book a return plane or train from Trondheim.
